Abstract
The study is based on seasonal variation in the abundance of rotifers from five perennial fresh water bodiesat Navi Mumbai. The observations were recorded from February 2013 to January 2014. Thirty species ofrotifers belonging to eight different families were recorded from these ponds. Family Brachionidae wasobserved as dominant family in all these water bodies in terms of rotifer diversity and abundance. Pollutionindicators species like Brachinousangularis, Filinialongiseta, Rotariarotatoria were recorded. Species diversity, evenness and richness exhibited highest values in Seawood and Kamothe ponds. Trophic state index forrotifers showed higher value in Kamothe pond.
