Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during Kharif, 2017 and 2018 at experimental farm, Annamalai University,Annamalai Nagar to evolve an integrated weed management (IWM) practice in blackgram. Cynodondactylon,Dactylocteniumaegyptium, Cyperusrotundus, Cleome viscosa and Physalis minima were the dominant weeds.Pre-emergence application of pendimethalin either at lower dosage (0.75 kg/ha) along with one hand weedingat 40 days after sowing or at higher dosage (1.0 kg/ha) without any integration with hand weeding provedto record higher seed yield (1.09 and 1.03 t/ha, respectively. In addition, use of 30% higher seed rate thanthe normal rate of 22.0 kg/ha was found to effectively suppress the weeds and further enhance the yieldlevel. Season-long weed competition caused an average yield reduction of 26.4% as compared to IWM inblackgram.
