THE DIVERSITY OF ANTS IN AND AROUND JAIPUR CITY, RAJASTHAN, INDIA

Abstract

In this present study, diversity of ant was studied on the basis of their morphological characteristics. In total 8 species belongs to 11 genera and 4 sub-family of the family Formicidae. Solenopsis invicta (Buren, 1972), Aphaenogaster rothneyi (Forel, 1902), Tetramorium bicarinatum (Nylander, 1846) of subfamily Myrmicinae; in the sub-family Formicinae 4 genus were found i.e. Oecophylla, Paratechina, Anoplolepis, Leptogenys among which species of two genus Oecophylla smaragdina (Fabricius, 1775) and Paratrechina aseta (Forel, 1902); Componotus compressus (Fabricius, 1787), Tapinoma melanocephalum (Fabricius, 1793) of subfamily Dolichoderinae and Lepisiota frauenfeldi (Mayr, 1855) of sub-family Ponerinae were confirmed among ant diversity.
