Abstract

Inerie Ngada red bean varieties in East Nusa Tenggara (ENT) are generally cultivated in the highlands in limited areas. Whereas lowland ENT dryland agro-climatic conditions are vastly dry climates. The limited existing plateau makes the red beans cultivation in lowlands needs to be undertaken. However, the development is constrained by the altitude in accordance with the growth of red beans. Differences in altitude affects the climate, right temperature, humidity and light intensity. Therefore, we need to developed technique to control the micro-climate. One of which is the use of bio char followed by sprinkling water volume setting. Seeds are one key to successful farming. The use of high-quality seeds increases crop production, including Inerie red bean varieties. This study aims to determine the effect of bio char types and volume of water provision to the viability and vigour Inerie red bean seeds in lowlands at tropical dry land. Researchers used completely randomized design factorial patterns which are factor type Bio char (B): B1: Rice husks, B2: Charcoal, B3: charcoal coconut shell, and B4: Charcoal sawdust and factors Water Volume(A): A1: 100% ETc; A2: 85% ETCc; A3: 70% ETc; A4: 55% ETc and A5: 40% ETC. The results showed that 1)Type of bio char and volume of water provision has no effect on seed viability, 2) Type bio char affects the vigour of seeds (growing speed), 3) The volume of water provision affects the vigour of seeds (growth rate and simultaneity growth), 4) The types bio char rice husks and charcoal coconut shell are able to provide the best seed growth rate of 19.073% / Etmal and 18.913% / Etmal, while the volume of 85% water is able to provide seed growth rate of 19.0 ETc and simultaneous growth of 92.625% seeds, and 5) There is no interaction between the types of bio char and the volume of water provision with the viability and vigour of Inerie Ngada red bean seeds grown in lowlands at tropical dry land.
