CHRONIC EFFECT OF SUGAR INDUSTRY EFFLUENT ON LIVER AND KIDNEY OF FRESH WATER FISH RASBORA DANICONIUS

Abstract

The effect of sub lethal concentration 2.2 (1/5) and 1.1 (1/10) of the 96 hrs.LC 50 values of sugar industry effluent were exposure 4 weeks in the laboratory on liver and kidney of fresh water fish Rasbora daniconius. It was observed that the liver of fish which were mostly degenerate changes like atrophy of hepatocytes, prominent vocuolation, and necrosis and pyknotic nuclei The chronic exposure to sub lethal concentration of sugar factory effluent to fish kidney showed appearance of eosinophilic granules in the epithelial cells, bordering the tubules and also cytoplasmic atrophy.
