A REVIEW ON PHYTOCHEMICALS AND PHARMACOLOGICALEFFECTS REPORTED IN GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA (MULETHI)

Abstract

One of the most significant sources of medications for humans has been plants. Due to the safety of naturalingredients, customers have been paying considerably greater attention to natural medicines in recentyears. Moreover, there is a rise in industrial demand for plants that are used in herbal therapy and thatcould be added to meals, cosmetics, and medications. The herb Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn., which is a memberof the Fabaceae family, has been utilized in ayurvedic medicines for centuries. Plant’s secondary metabolitesare used in many medicinal substances and are significant from a commercial standpoint. These plants’diverse therapeutic properties are probably explained by the presence of these phytochemical compounds. The goal of this work is to summarize the phytochemicals and their pharmacological effects which arereported in Glycyrrhiza glabra.
