A REVIEW ON PHYTOREMEDIATION POTENTIAL OF CANNA SPECIES FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENTASHUTOSH KUMAR CHOUDHARYAbstract Globally, contamination of water is a serious environmental issue which necessitates continuous attention and remediation. The demand for good quality water is increasing so it becomes essential to promote the cost effective and sustainable wastewater treatment technologies like phytoremediation by using constructed wetlands (CWs). This review focused to investigate the phytoremediation efficiency of Canna species for the treatment of wastewater originated from different sources, by using different type of CWs around the world. It includes 33 research studies reported in the literature, for the phytoremediation of wastewater. Canna species performed well under different experimental conditions and recommended for the remediation of water and wastewater. |
