FLUOROSIS 1ST REPORTED IN NUAPADA DISTRICT OF ORISSA, INDIA

Abstract

Fluorosis is a slow poison for the community. It is preventable but not controllable. It was reported in Orissa decades back, for the first time it is now reported in the poverty laden Nuapada districts of Orissa.An investigation was undertaken in the year 2003 and was observed fluorosis and residual fluoride toxicity in community level. Starting from the loss of teeth enamel to hunch in the back clearly indicate its inhereditary nature. Its preventation through alter- native water management is the best remedy to the menance.
