A.V. Mavchi, A.D. Kadlag and R.J. Macharekar

Abstract

The soil and plant samples were collected from Mula command area. The soil was calcareous alkaline in reaction (pH), low in nitrogen (N), high in phosphorous (P) and potassium (K). The soil was characterized with pHe as 8.51 and ECe as4.60 dSm-1 and categorized as saline sodic soils. The soil was grouped under sawargoan (Pather) soil series which was member of fine montmorilonitic, hyperthermic family of vertic Haplusteps. The DTPA extractable micronutrient contains of these soils were high viz., Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu ranged from 4.10 to 8.22mg g-1, 10.97-22.56 mg g-1, 0.36 -1.86 mg g-1 and 3.60 -11.12 mg g-1 respectively. The concentration was recorded high in salt affected soils. The brix was varied from 16.30-20.8, sucrose % ranged from 14.28 – 15.88%. The purity percent ranged from 71.33 – 94.52 percent and commercial cane sugar varied from 8.11-1.38 percent.
