Abstract

The investigation entitled “Enhancement of shelf life and quality of mango (Mangifera indica L.) Cv. Alphonso under cold storage” was undertaken in the Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture., Dapoli during May to July, 2010. Treatment (T1) Cell - fresh 0.18% Tablet (1-MCP) = 1 Tablet/1M.3 recorded significantly delayed ripening by 6 days, significantly highest TSS (19.70 0Brix), acidity (0.35%), total sugar (14.32%), β-carotene (10192.2 μg/100 g of pulp) as compared to control (T4) in ripe stage. Similarly same treatment recorded significantly lowest percent of spoilage (11.4% stem end rot and 11.05% anthracnose) as compared to treatment T4 (15.40 % stem end rot and 14.47% anthracnose) whereas same treatment recorded lowest physiological loss in weight (6.57%) as compared to (control) T4 (8.62%) in cold storage at ripe stage.
