SURVEY ON INCIDENCE OF STEM BORER, CHILO PARTELLUS SWINHOE IN MAIZE GROWING AREAS OF SABARKANTHA, GUJARAT, INDIA

Abstract

To know the damage percentage of Chilo partellus Swinhoe in maize growing area of Sabarkantha, a survey was carried out during kharif 2008 and 2009. During the survey it is revealed that Vijaynagar (26.84 %) and Bhiloda (27.67 %) talukas had lowest damage of maize stem borer, while maximum damage was recorded from Idar taluka (34.15 %). Among the different villages, Kherancha (24.23 %), Changod (24.64 %) and Chikhala (24.96 %) were least suffered due to maize stem borer. While, maximum damage of maize stem borer was recorded in Sapavada village, i.e., 33.35 per cent.
