SEASONAL ABUNDANCE OF MUSTARD APHID LIPAPHIS ERYSIMI (KATENBACH) IN MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

Abstract

The infestation of aphid was initiated from 51st MW (17-23 Dec. 2012) and continually increased up to 9th MW (26 Feb-4 March 2013). The peak activity of aphid was recorded during 9th MW 72.0 aphid / 10 cm terminal shoot. Maximum temperature was positive significantly correlated with aphid. While it was no significant with the correlation between aphid and rainfall, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, morning relative humidity, evening relative humidity, evaporation, bright sunshine hours and wind velocity. The weather parameters contributed for 82.8 per cent of total variation in the population of aphid on mustard.
