Abstract

Investigation were carried out during Kharif season of 2012 at Reseach Farm, College of Agriculture, Gwalior (mp). The result showed that method of irrigation is found to be non significant. Mulching with plastic sheet in okra proved the best mulching practices which produced superior growth, yield attributing characters, WUE (101.39 kg/ha/cm) and seed yield (486.11 kg/ha) over mulching with wheat straw and grass mulching. Soil moisture extraction decrease with the increase in depth of soil and it was higher in 0- 20 cm depth. Moisture extraction was higher in plastic mulch (9.82%) followed by wheat straw, grass and no mulch (9.82,8.60 and 6.77%,respectively).
