Kamaljeet Singh Suri and Gurpreet Singh Makkar

Abstract

Mortar 75 SG, a novel, non-dusty, eco-friendly formulation of cartap hydrochloride was evaluated @ 281.5, 318.7 and 375 g a.i. ha-1 for the control of rice stem borers and leaffolder in rice with cartap hydrochloride 50 SP @ 500 g a.i. ha-1 and fipronil 5 SC @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 as standard checks and an untreated control. The two years of field investigations confirmed Mortar 75 SG @ 318.7 g a.i. ha-1 to be highly effective in providing outstanding control of the rice stem borers and leaffolder and in realizing higher grain yield. Attributes including safety to natural enemies and no observable crop phytotoxicity even at the highest dosage of 750 g a.i. ha-1 render it highly attractive tool for integrated pest management (IPM) in rice.
