Abstract

A field experiment was conducted on sandy loam soils during rabi 2011 to study the productivity and profitability of Sweet corn genotypes as influenced by different dates of sowing in Southern Agro-climatic Zone of Andhra Pradesh. The treatments consisted of combination of two factors viz., three varieties viz., Madhuri, Sugar 75, Misthi and four times of sowing, i.e first fortnight of October, second fortnight of October, first fortnight of November and second fort night of November. Significantly higher yield attributes, yield and economic returns was obtained by genotype Misthi when compared to other genotypes. Crop sown during October I FN resulted in the highest yield attributes, yield and monetary returns over other dates of sowing. Sweet corn genotype Misthi performed well when sown during first fortnight of October, as it has resulted in higher seed yield and economic returns.
