A STUDY ON BARRIERS TO SUSTAINABILITY CONCERNS IN PADEL VILLAGE OF DEVGAD TALUKA AND PHONDAGHAT VILLAGE OF KANKAVLI TALUKA UNDER SINDHUDURGA DISTRICT, SUGGESTING POSSIBILITIES OF ECOTOURISMPapiya DebAbstract Since 1980 ecotourism has been considered a critical endeavor by environmentalists so that future generations might experience destinations relatively untouched by human intervention. Generally, ecotourism deals with living parts of the natural environments. Ecotourism focuses on socially responsible travel, personal growth, and environmental-social-financial sustainability. It typically involves travel to destinations where flora, fauna and cultural heritage are the primary attractions. It is intended to offer tourists insight into the impact of humans on the environment, and to foster a greater appreciation of our natural habitats. Ecotourism programs include those that minimize the negative aspects of conventional tourism on the environment and enhance the cultural integrity of local people. The present study makes a research on barriers to sustainability concerns in Padel village of Devgad Taluka and Phondaghat village of Kankavli Taluka under Sindhudurga district based on the environmental, social and economic domains and suggests ecotourism possibilities linking the domains.
