Abstract

Along with the industrial and economic growth and the production of various types of compounds and chemicals, which human beings have gained through natural resources for their welfare, they are unwittingly releasing materials such as heavy and toxic metals to nature and the air which has serious problems and risks for the environment as well as for human. In this study, the qualitative characteristics and the average estimation of urban runoff pollution in urban areas of Tehran were investigated, that after collecting, area runoff entering from the Karaj River. In this study, over a period of nine months (winter and summer) exit runoff of studied basin samples were taken in three areas. Samples collected for heavy metal parameters and several other variables were analyzed by AAS. The observation metals in runoff are lead, mercury, cadmium and after analyzing these metals, we use SPSS software for statistical analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, the highest concentrations of Cd, Hg, Pb is allocated to Keshavarz Boulevard area in summer and in winter, the rest were within standards or less.
